Managing Payments

Obscura offers two ways to pay. Subscriptions that renew automatically and top-ups that add a fixed amount of time to your account.
Subscriptions
Section titled “Subscriptions”A subscription charges your credit card monthly and renews automatically. You can subscribe through:
- The Obscura website via credit card
- The iOS app via the Apple App Store
- The Android app via Google Play
To subscribe from the website, you can visit the Subscription page.
Managing Your Subscription
Section titled “Managing Your Subscription”How you manage your subscription depends on where you subscribed:
- Subscription made on the website: Click Manage Subscription on your Subscription page to open the Stripe portal. From there you can update your payment method, view invoices, or cancel.
- Apple: Open Settings > Account > Subscriptions on your Apple device, or manage online at apps.apple.com. From there you can cancel auto-renewal.
- Google: Go to Google Play subscriptions or open the Google Play app and tap your profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions. From there you can cancel auto-renewal.
Canceling a Subscription
Section titled “Canceling a Subscription”When you cancel, your account stays active until the end of the current billing period. You won’t be charged again.
Top-Ups
Section titled “Top-Ups”A top-up is a one-time payment that adds time to your account. Once the time runs out, you need to top up again. Top-ups are available from the Top-Up page in your account.
You can pay for a top-up via Credit Card, Bitcoin Lightning or Monero
Combining Subscriptions and Top-Ups
Section titled “Combining Subscriptions and Top-Ups”If you top up while you have an active subscription, your subscription pauses automatically. Obscura uses your top-up balance first, and once it runs out, your subscription resumes and starts billing again.
Discount Codes
Section titled “Discount Codes”If you have a discount code, you can apply it during checkout. On the Top-Up page, expand Got a code? and enter your code to see the discounted price before paying. On the Subscription page expand Add code at the top of the page. Discount codes can also be shared via link, so opening a shared link will apply the code automatically.
What Happens When Your Account Expires
Section titled “What Happens When Your Account Expires”If your account runs out of time and you don’t have an active subscription, you won’t be able to connect to Obscura. Your account is not deleted, so you can simply top up or re-subscribe to start using Obscura again.
